Multiplication

Session topics:

  • Curriculum, research and brain science

  • 10 Step differentiated process to teach multiplication including:

    • Skip counting so students can fill in any counting gaps with the CRA model and context

    • Basic fact foundations

    • 2,3,4 digit x 1 digit, 2 digit x 2 digit multiplication so students can advance their learning to bigger numbers.

    • Connect student learning to guide them how to multiply decimal numbers.

Afternoon

Division

Session Topics:

  • Help students link multiplication to division so they can see the connection.

  • Use sharing to help students really understand division

  • Basic facts and differentiated division

  • 2,3,4 digit/1 digit so students can advance their learning to bigger numbers.

  • Link learning to factors and multiples

  • Games

  • Q & A
